Cordell Olive, CPA, CGFM

Cordell Olive is a principal at Williams Adley with over 15 years experience in the public and private sector at a senior management level. Mr. Olive’s experience includes managing and controlling financial operations in the private sector, budget and operational management in the public sector, and extensive audit and management consultant work for federal and local government clients, and the financial mortgage sector. Mr. Olive’s expertise resides in performance and compliance audits of federal grants and Medicaid and Medicare cost reports, and business process engineering efforts. Mr. Olive is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a MBA from the George Washington University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Government Financial Manager.

Q: What was your first job?

A: My first job after college was as a management trainee with Hyatt Hotels Corporation in San Francisco, California.

A: I believe the reputation earned through the efforts of a motivated and highly skilled staff brings clients to Williams Adley.

Q: How do you keep a competitive edge?

A: I maintain a competitive edge by remaining up-to-date on technical advancements that make work more efficient and staying in tune with the political landscape that influences where the next big challenge or opportunity will most likely occur – and positioning myself to be able to overcome the challenge or take advantage of the opportunity.

Q: Name one of your talents that benefits clients most.

A: One of my talents that benefits clients the most is my ability to recognize issues and alternative solutions that create added value to the client.

Q: How do you spend your time outside of the office?

A: I spend my time outside the office working on pet projects at home, engaging my family, and enjoying the outdoors.

A: In my professional life the saying I most aspire to is one by Aristotle:
